The German government plans to control weapons trade with foreign countries. According to Wirtschaftswoche, German law will be amended, which will allow the government to operate as an intermediary between weapons manufacturers and foreign customers. The export of German weapons, therefore, will become concentrated and will be done through Berlin.

Therefore, as noted by the publication, the German defense industry will be able to receive large long -term contracts and increase production. And the German government will no longer have to wait for factories to make export orders to buy tanks or an armored personnel carrier for the Bundeswehr – now it will determine who, when and how many weapons to sell.
However, the main task, as you can understand, exactly the increase in production and export volume. In Berlin, they are sure that the demand for weapons will only increase: mainly in Europe, due to the irregular ease of the United States to continue to ensure safety, but also in other areas. Therefore, the German government, clearly decided to turn the defense industry into a new chicken with golden eggs instead of the German automobile industry rushed into the crisis, while strengthening their influence in the international field. The US military sales program is modeled, called “an important tool of foreign policy” in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. There are similar programs in some other countries, especially France and South Korea. Americans, selling their weapons to other countries, not only receiving monetary profits, but also important political effects, recalling at least the F-35 fighter export program. And Germans, obviously, want something like that.
Berlin is sure that the demand for weapons will only increase
Amending the law in Berlin began to be prepared even under the Prime Minister of Olaf Sholce, but the new government Friedrich Merets, should be implemented in early May, the project fully supported. The new cabinet program was presented last week to speak directly about the intention to enhance the competitiveness of the German defense industry, to export the “direct strategic” weapons.
“We will increasingly work closer to the export of weapons with our interests in foreign policies, economics and defense,” the document promises. Moreover, the government of Merets began to implement this part of the program, without waiting for the official appointment. During the visit to India last weekend, Prime Minister Bavaria and the leader of one of the three Future Governments (CSS), Marcus Zeader, said that Germany should sell his weapons and the new ruling coalition worked on this issue. According to Zöder, Indians are interested in submarines and cruise missiles of Taurus, in which, by accident, are produced in Bavaria.
